An exhibition unique in France: Les Nabis et le Décor, full of joy and happiness
At the Musée du Luxembourg, you can admire the magnificent exhibition Les nabis et le Décor through 30 June 2019. This assembly of creations will speak to everyone. The catchword here is “joy”. A rare thing in the art world. Bright colours, undulating lines and aestheticism are omnipresent. This postimpressionist movement emerged in the late 19th century. Bonnard, Vuillard, Maurice Denis, Sérusier and Ranson were its champions. Those pioneers wanted to eliminate the line between fine arts and applied arts. This exhibition of 80 pieces is a first in France. It includes never-before-seen works on display. It is arranged in four acts: women and nature; interiors and interiority; applied arts; and sacred rites. From your hotel, it takes about 40 minutes to get here (Metro line 6, then 4, Saint-Sulpice stop). A legendary Parisian park, the Luxembourg Gardens, is just 2 minutes from the museum.
